Artist Libby Barbee created Dirt as a response to the complexity of the relationship between farming operations and the environment. How does this relationship affect healthy soils, and how can we improve this relationship?
Dirt is a kinetic sculpture that features moving images of debris and compost photographed on farms and in Libby’s own vegetable garden. The rotating images are housed inside of an old silo from Trevithick Farm. Dirt was part of agriCULTURE: Art Inspired by the Land, a collaboration with Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the Longmont Museum featuring works by 18 national and local artists.
